Jocelyn was born and raised in the East End of Waterbury. Going through the Waterbury Public Schools, she has seen the over-policing and surveillance toward marginalized communities. This has perpetuated Jocelyn to involve herself with community organizations like RACCE. Her goal is to bring awareness to injustices within the school system and promote an inclusive education system in Waterbury. With her advocacy work in RACCE, she applies it to her work at EMERGE Connecticut Inc. by assisting people coming home from incarceration. She hopes to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline and encourage alternative solutions to important issues.
